I interrupt this vacation to bring you Witt's Birthday

And here he is using his new toy:

Video 1 - Video 2 - Video 3 - Witt and Jen's friend Kirk helped locate, purchase and surprise Witt for Jen and us - he is the guy in the green boat. Thank you, Captain Kirk!

Under it all

More of Mt. Vernon

Roasting Apples just like the pioneers did!

videoHenry in action

Can you tell this is a Family / History Trip?

Here we are at Mt. Vernon - if you have never visited - it is well worth it - an awesome visit - I can certainly understand why George chose this spot for his home and always wanted to go back.

Overlooking the Potomic

And then to Richmond

to visit Larry, my brother, and his family.

That's Henry, Wyatt ( Lara's friend), Larry, Joan and Lara.

This is the bridge the Confederates retreated on during the Civil war and left Richmond a burning city. We had a wonderful walk along the James River Canal, the Civil War Museum and lunch in CaryTown.

This is the Zenith Radio we had in our house growing up in Loveland, CO - Larry has refinished it - it works and now lives in Richomond.

And this is Jasper James - the baby of the family. He likes girls okay, but growls at boys - Henry was able to win him over in only an hour.

More of Montecello

On to Montecello and finally some colors!

These plants are in Jefferson's garden area - I don't know what they are, but they definitely are very interesting.

Asparagus in the garden - sounds like some good eating - Jefferson rose 250 different types of vegetables.

Our Visit to Cades Cove in the Great Smokie Mountains

This is who Henry was named after - the curious thing is that they did not put a date of death on the headstone.

Lots of Sparks' - We couldn't find Nathanial - Henry's Great Grandfather Sparks.

Hike to Abrahms Falls

Yikes! Bears on the Deck!

Deep in the woods on the trail to our cabin - we only got lost - or as the locals say, "misplaced" 2 or 3 times in those curvy mountain roads.

View of the town of Lake Lure

Yikes - a bear sneaking up on Henry!

And more!

Bobbie and George at Lake Lure

This is a "grown up" photo of a "kid" photo taken in the Sparks childhood.

The wedding was an excuse to rent a cabin in Lake Lure.
